FRUSTRATED: To date I am still awaiting on an operation date for my Hysterectomy.
After suffering with heavy painful periods for many years I was referred to QA for a Hysteroscopy and inserion of Merina Coil . First attempt was unsuccessful because my womb is in an unfavourable position so was booked in at a later date for it to be carried out under a GA as consultant says my anatomy is unusual and I wouldn't tolerate it awake.
Staff at QA during my day visit under GA were fabulous. Very friendly and kept me informed all the time. I went in for 7am and by midday had my procedure. Woke to sandwich and cuppa which went down well. Pain was virtual minimal so I am glad I opted for the GA. Went home same day. Booked in for follow up 15th August 2018 with Consultant.
Sorry to say that I am still bleeding and was when i went to see my Consultant on 15th August.
It was agreed then at my follow up that a Hysterectomy is the final resort which i agreed to as really had enough now. Also, I have a VERY enlarged womb which is obviously causing my tummy to swell and I get constant back ache as well as bleeding, bloating and leg pain.
I phone Gynae outpatients on a weekly basis.
Very rare do I get through as just an answerphone. Today i phoned again and actually got to speak to a staff member who was very pleasant but could't tell me anymore apart from fact that emergency Gynae ops are considered more important and will be priority, which I fully understand. I get told this every time i ring and today was told lists are in date order.
It has been suggested that I go back to my GP which I am reluctant to do because I am already on the waiting list. I have even said I am willing to go to another hospital to get it done sooner. Staff member on Gynae outpatients advised if I want it doing at another hospital I would have to refer to my GP and start the referral process again which I so unfair. Member of my family was on wait for same procedure at QAbut then had a telephone call to have operation done at a different hospital. How can this be?
I am in pain most days and feel so uncomfortable. Wait lists are so long. Just wish I could afford to go private but cant. Rant over.
