"Referring a patient"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

I am an advanced practitioner working in general practice. Earlier this week, I contacted Tameside General Hospital (Ashton-Under-Lyne) to discuss and refer an ENT patient. I was put in contact with Dr Bloomfield, an ENT on call. Dr Bloomfield was an EXTREMELY courteous, knowledgeable and professional doctor who provided advice on treatment options in a very non-patronising manner. He offered to review my patient immediately. You may say that as a doctor, this is a service that should be offered, in the right circumstances, anyway. Nevertheless, I found Dr Bloomfield to be one of the most professional people I have ever encountered. We finished our conversation and both myself and my patient felt thoroughly satisfied with the service provided by Dr Bloomfield. I seldom write to congratulate people on a job well done, which is perhaps a weakness on my part, but felt compelled to do so after speaking to Dr Bloomfield. Many thanks Dr Bloomfield.
