Having had partial dislocations of my jaw for some time I waited four months for an appointment in the Green Clinic. Frankly, I made a mistake bothering. I do have joint hypermobility syndrome which is no doubt the reason for my problems but do not really have a pain issue due to it. If my jaw pops out, I press it in with my finger. Unfortunately the consultant did not believe me though she did admit that tendons were very lax. I must be hallucinating as I have to press to get my jaw moving on a daily basis when it gets stuck. I asked what could be done about it and was told not to chew tough things - I informed her I am a vegetarian and don't anyway. So here I am having to go private to get some kind of splint to hold my jaw together in the right place and I am so very cross at the standardised, useless advice given to me today.Surely, I could have at least had some kind of way of managing this condition. Is that too much to ask? I certainly don't like being though of as dishonest either. I am going to avoid this hospital in future and pray I don't get a serious illness. Oh, and I do think this consultant needs to be told that it is important for a person to know about Ehlers Danloss syndrome, as she said, "What's the point of knowing anyway, there's nothing you can do about it.", as my son has connective tissue problems and due to that has now lost much of his sight. One MUST know - it's important.
