"Feeling I could not cope."

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

I had lost my mum and my dad had always been a problem. He is a very domineering man and was now bossing me around but in a very nasty way. I had also been very ill with breast cancer and my husband had a heart attack and surgery. I had a sister but she left the family after a fight with my parents, and left my nephew with us.

This was not a problem because we have always been very close and we get on very well, he has a super family and has made me very proud. I just could not cope and felt very sad. I got in touch with Inclusion Thurrock and saw  a very nice man called Ian who helped me see how I could work with my father and not let him rule my life and stop his bullying.

After my first session I felt like a weight had been lifted and then I had a few more and felt like I could cope again.

Dear foxtrotdz69,

Thank you for sharing your experience of coping with the difficulties that came along and how you found therapy.

Its strange isn't it that we can carry things around or bottle things up for so long without finding a way to deal with them more healthily......

Sometimes we just need to know where to turn for support and to have the courage and trust to ask for help.

I'm ever so pleased that you are feeling more able to cope right now and that sense of being weighed down has been relieved.

Many thanks for sharing your story and all the very best wishes from the whole team at Inclusion Thurrock.

Paul
