"Ulcerations"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Outpatients

(as the patient),

I've been referred 3 times to Aberdeens ARI Oral and maxillofacial unit and 2 out of the 3 times I've been they didn't bother checking what I was there for. I asked for further tests in regards to a long term situation (multiple decades) and they told me I didn't need as it wasn't severe.  I get ulcers all the time maximum at one time 37 minimum 4 lasting at least 3-5 weeks then scarring then more occur. But one surgeon in particular said it's nothing and just get on with it.

I felt extremely upset and very angry that I've been told to do nothing and they can't or don't want to help by further tests etc.

Dear O12th

Thank you for your submission to care opinion regarding the negative experience you received in Max Fax OPD.

As the Senior Charge Nurse for the department, I apologise that you have not received the positive experience that we endeavour to provide to all of our patients.

I have discussed your issues with my senior staff nurse for the area.

We do try to be involved in as much of the patient journey as possible, however this can be difficult during consultations by medical staff.

Your comments have been passed on to the service managers for Maxillo Facial also.
