"Paediatric asthma clinic"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services

(as a parent/guardian),

I would just like to take the time to send thanks and recognition to the paediatric asthma clinic team.

We are greeted by Denise and Margaret who always welcome all of our family and interact positively with our children. Our son finds appointments hard and is unsure (usually) what to expect. However, when coming to the clinic he knows his feedback form is followed by weight and height check with both these welcoming faces.

Routinely we then see Dr O’Hara, the knowledge she has in her field is outstanding. I find that I can get a little off track when it comes to the health of my child and Dr O’Hara remains on point taking clear notes, knows what my son needs and also recaps. Her vast knowledge means she answers all my questions, this visit I also asked something that she said she would consult for the answer and she recapped the question at the end-never misses a detail.

From here we move on to Elaine and she always calms my muddled brain, goes over the medication and how it helps my child, she always reassures us both that if we find any problems we can contact her. Today she shared a bank of knowledge on medication I asked about -another professional with vast knowledge on what she is relaying to parents and children. For each of the team I feel they not only address myself, but speak to my son on his level.

Further to this, it doesn’t stop at fantastic face to face interactions, the paper work trail of care plans follow suit -as promised and promptly. They come not just to our home but to the doctor and school too. They have a wonderful system in place keeping everyone in the circle for the care of my child. No matter how busy I have saw the clinic each one of their team works to keep that same consistency and level of care. When they say it will be done I feel that it truly will and I feel much more supported in a portion of my child’s health. We have attended a lot of appointments and I appreciate resources and lists etc are spare or stretched but the staff team at the clinic are showing that despite the setbacks they can provide a service that is positive and can still work tightly to take care of our health.

A massive well done to each individual and together working as a team. It is so comforting when you feel supported and have information you need to care for your children.
