I attended the Day Case unit for removal of a Wisdom tooth on Friday 2nd November 2018. I was originally having a General Anaesthetic but after discussions with the Anaethassist a local and sedation were recommended due to other health concerns. This was fully discussed with me and I was happy to go ahead.
I didn't feel any pain. I was aware of a certain amount of pressure at one point but for the most part the surgery went off without me being aware of it.
It all went very well too.
I came around quickly which is an advantage of sedation and as soon as I was able to manage it I was able to have soup (a particularly delicious carot and coriander I believe) and coffee. I was only able to have them both warm, but that's normal after mouth surgery.
I was discharged at around 12:15. Much earlier than I expected but again that was down to having the sedation rather than the GA so it was a real win win having sedation.
All of the staff from the nurse who checked me in, the registrar's, consultants, theatre nurses and nurses in recovery room where all very friendly, helpful and approachable. The whole team were very reassuring. Thanks for a positive experience.
