My father attended Wishaw General hospital this week following a fall where he sustained a back injury. He was unable to get up following the fall and ambulance was called by a passer by.
The ambulance crew were fabulous, assisting my father onto a trolley and promptly giving him pain killers and gas&air while calming his worries.
We were taken to A&E at Wishaw where he seen by a doctor (Mary I think) who was really good. She was very caring and reassuring and kept calling my dad “chicken” which made him laugh and she seemed very very empathetic.
The nurses we saw were unfortunately not as caring. It seemed like they had been told to get him out the trolley and send him away so demanded that he got out of the trolley - when the doctor came back she assisted my dad back to a position where he was comfortable and more pain killers were offered.
My dad is currently in the Orthopaedic ward having been diagnosed with a small fracture and regular pain killers are helping. He is hoping to be home ASAP as he does not enjoy “prison food!!)
Thanks to the paramedics and Doctor Mary (apologies if we have the wrong name) I would appreciate if she was made aware of the comments.
