My mother has had 2 partial hip replacements at Russell's Hall. Both times (2011 and 2018) she felt that she had excellent care pre and post operatively and was looked after well on the hip trauma ward. The staff were caring and kind. It was only when she was waiting for step-down care on another ward that she and we felt that the quality of the service fell - there seemed to be little communication or even concern once she was out of immediate danger, for want of a more suitable word. We appreciate the nursing shortage, and the prioritisation of critical care, but it seemed like wasted time and resources to be kept on a ward that seemed to have little management or relatively little concern while she waited for a rehab place. Again, we appreciate that resources are strapped, hence the wait. But it was the difficulty of getting information as to what was happening, and the fact that the hospital adjusted certain meds with no explanation which has caused a problem needing rectifying for her. These aren't huge concerns and not a complaint - simply feedback.
