My elderly mam, was referred to the hospital by the 111 service last week. She had fallen during the early hours of the morning and sliced her arm open. My mam has never needed to attend hospital for emergency treatment and didn't know what to expect.
We arrived for our 4.10am appointment to be greeted by a very efficient and friendly receptionist. We were seen promptly. It was a very clean and tidy environment.
The receptionist and nurse who dealt with us introduced themselves and were very attentive, supportive, supportive and reassuring both my mam and myself. Everything was explained carefully from the treatment , local anaesthetic, cleaning, stitching and bandaging, advice on caring for her injury, to the care she would require from our local health centre nurse. The staff were outstanding, helping to make the experience, which could have been very traumatic for a 89 year old lady , a relaxing , comforting experience. They made her feel very special. We cannot that them enough, they were marvellous. We were amazed by the treatment she received, she was treat as a person not as an injury.
"Urgent Care staff at NTGH second to none"
