"Miscarriage"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

Went to the early pregnancy unit at good hope hospital. Was greeted by a lovely lady. The sonographer was excellent, caring, informative and professional. It was confirmed by scan that I had indeed had a miscarriage.

I was asked to wait for a nurse to explain things a bit further and to give me my discharge notes. I went to the waiting room and within 5 mins was called by another nurse.

This new nurse put me in a room and asked me to give my notes from a private scan. They emailed the note from my phone to themselves, before leaving the room to print them off. This took 20 mins! So I was left to deal with the news, all alone in a horrible room. I waited and waited and then I went to reception and asked if I could leave.

I was told to wait. The nurse finally arrived, no explanation, no apology.  Very briefly told me what I already know.

Shocking treatment/lack of treatment when dealing with such a sad event

I am extremely sorry that your experience was not satisfactory whilst waiting to see the nurse in the unit and apologies for how this has made you feel.
