"Lack of information"

About: Victoria Infirmary / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Appauling waiting times, off work now due to hip pain, on crutches and still no indication of when the op may be! Patient letter indicates should be carried out within 18 weeks - however I have been told due to extensive waiting times this will not be met. How are patients supposed to get on with this lack of information. Children, work, family life all on hold with some varying degrees of timescales from each person spoken to. I think it is unacceptable.

Dear Need a hip on crutches.

Thank you for your post on Care Opinion.

I'm really sorry that you are experiencing such a wait for your operation. Unfortunately, due to the demands on the service we are unable to meet the Treatment Time Guarantee. We appreciate the anxiety and distress that this is causing our patients. Please be assured that we are constantly reviewing our service to try to minimise the waiting times for our patients where possible. We will contact you as soon as we can regarding a date for your operation.

Kind Regards

Nicole
