"Unhelpful and obstructive practice"

About: Stillington Surgery

After suffering with severe vomiting and diarrhoea one of the doctors asked me to send off a faecal sample for bacterial culture. This was great, especially as i have an 8wk old baby and wanted to know the risk to him.

Unfortunately that is where the helpful service ended.

I phoned repeatedly to get the results after the time point i was informed they would be available just to get a very obstructive individual on the other end refusing to pass on my clinical information which i have a legal right to know on request.

At this time i hoped that taking time out of work to visit the practice in person may get me further. I was sadly mistaken. Instead of getting any help, the receptionist pulled up my record, sat back and refused to give me the results infront of her on the screen.

When i informed her that it is my legal right to see my records, she still sat their refusing to help.

At this point due to my concern over my 8wk old baby I mad it clear that the care for patients was appauling and that if anything happened to my baby i would be holding themresponsible.

Despite my concerns it still took until I called 2 days later to get the results.

Hkw can this be considered care for patients?

It is practice policy not to release laboratory results to a patient until they have been reviewed by a doctor.

The practice does not tolerate bad language being used by patients when speaking to our reception staff.

This patient clearly did not like being informed of this.
