My father in his mid-sixties was admitted for elective heart surgery (MVR) in October. He also had low platelets. The haematologist and cardio-thoracic surgeon were excellent communicators and kept him well informed pre and post-operative.
The operation went well with no complications, and he went to ITU. He became a little confused while there but the nursing staff and ANP were very reassuring. Eventually he was stepped down, and given more excellent care, were he stated that he was "well looked after".
He had also previously spent time in the QMC on a cardiology ward and was well treated there also.
Please pass on my thanks to the staff at Nottingham City Hospital and at QMC, especially the cardiology doctors, nurses, cardio-thoracic surgeons, anaesthetist and ITU and ward staff and other allied staff for their great work and care.
