I have attended a and e, fit stop, cardiology, resusc etc in the last 2 years. I have nothing but praise for the nursing and admin staff I have encountered. They have always been professional and caring and I have always felt safe and well looked after. They do a very hard job but are always cheerful and supportive. I think they deserve to be paid much more than they are.
My only criticism has been of the time I have been at the hospital which has ranged between 5 and 10 hours. There seems to be two reasons for these long waits. Firstly is the time it takes to get blood test results back. The second reason is the time it takes to see a consultant. I'm sure this is down to staffing levels but there seem to always be more than enough nurses but not enough doctors and consultants. Also there needs to be a quicker turnaround with blood tests.
Overall I have nothing but praise for these people, doctors nurses and admin staff alike. They are all magnificent and I am very proud of our NHS system and the people that make it what it is.
