"Amazing Nursing Care"

About: Watford General Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

After calling 111 I was sent to Watford General Hospital, After being in the Emergency Admissions unit I stayed on a ward called the red suite. It was absolutely fantastic, all staff were so lovely, I can't fault them. The food was strange because I had been in about a year before and I remember thinking the food was terrible but this time it was amazing, just the quality and quantity of it, I was very impressed. The staff were amazing and I want to thank some of them in particular:

- Nurse Fernandez - she was in charge of the ward and she was so efficient and caring. She saw that I was having trouble with an IV at one point and she came over and changed it so that I was no longer in pain.

- Nurse Mary was lovely too. While I was in hospital I was very scared and panicky and she was really helpful taking the time to talk to me. She was so kind anybody would have thought I was her own granddad.

- Nurse Jannson, he is the first nurse that has ever given me an IV that wasn't painful at all, it was amazing, he such a great skill and technique with it.

- Nurse Tsunangi - She absolutely had us in stitches, more so than if we'd have gone to the London Palladium. This was so appreciated given how worried I was at the time. She also made sure we had sandwiches and got us some coffee because we had been waiting a while through the lunch time period, so this was really appreciated.

- Nurse Ova, he was amazing as well, a gentle giant who was so gentle with his care.

I'd rang 111 because I was having problems with my chest, I have COPD and I had initially gone in for a biopsy as they wanted to do a biopsy on my lung but they found out I had quite a bad skin infection and problems with my kidneys and so they decided not to take the biopsy as it would be too high risk. I honestly don't know how anyone can say anything bad about the health service, or this hospital at least. The nurses were all so hard working, there were 16 of us on the ward and they attended to everyone, we didn't have to ever wait long and everyone was seen, there was such dedication to care.

From the moment we arrived at hospital, everybody without a shadow of a doubt was concerned about your welfare and to be honest it was unexpected from me at least in this day and age, I wish I could say thank you to everyone. We do contribute at Christmas but I am so pleased with the amazing care I wish I could give the amazing nurses some money so they can treat themselves because they really deserve it, words just aren't enough.
