"Patients are not just names on a sheet of paper"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Having had a revision hip operation last year, just over a year after - the prosthesis snapped and caused me to fall. I was taken to William Harvey hospital and was given a further revision op.

My after care at William Harvey hospital by the physio team was not an experience I would like to have to go through again. When I fell I fractured my shoulder which hampered my recovery. The physio team 'bullied' me to get out of bed which was extremely painful to do because of not being able to support myself with the very painful arm. They did not take my state of health/mind into consideration at all, and due to one time being pulled off the bed the wound from my op opened and caused me distress.

This was the last time I saw these staff members as I was moved to a residential home to recuperate. I feel that the aftercare should be more for each individual and not purely box ticking, as everyone heals and recuperates at a different speed. These so called professionals should remember that the patients have feelings and are not just names on a sheet of paper!
