"No organisation of clinics"

About: Vale of Leven General Hospital / Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I attend the vale of leven hospital for diabetic review. I attended the clinic recently to be told there wasn't a diabetic clinic on but a foot clinic. I waited for almost two hours sitting waiting to be seen till I was told I was booked into the clinic for my foot instead of my routine diabetic appointment which should be due this week.

There needs to be better communications at the vale about which appointments are for which clinic. I felt though the doctor who was in the department was so unhelpful and was very unhappy. I left this department in a distressed state, I tripped and fell coming home. I now feel I no longer wish to come back to this department as the confusion of which clinic I was at was not and did not indicate for a specific clinic.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and I was very sorry to learn of the upset caused at your recent clinic visit. It might be helpful if I explain that we have a dedicated Foot Clinic specifically for diabetic patients but I am sorry if this was not made clear to you. The Podiatry Team (specialists in foot care) are able to give advice on foot care and the prevention of foot ulcers, which is very important for patients suffering from diabetes.

I agree with your review that we need to communicate effectively and have shared your feedback with the Diabetic Team.
