"Out of hours"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as a service user),

Having a mental health crisis for me, particularly out of hours is quite common and sadly, services just aren't there. I attended A&E out of sheer desperation as, I felt absolutely terrified and so poorly.

I have faith lessons have been learned as, the receptionist last night was so good with me. Her manner was reassuring and she was so efficient in getting me booked in. They do know me as, I feel like I'm there all the time for one reason or another!! It was noticed and, very much appreciated.

The nurses last night, Gail in particular, was looking after me and she was just phenomenal. I was struggling but, she is was so so patient and understanding.

A&E is not an easy place to be in a mental health crisis by any means but, I'm so grateful to every single member of staff who made things seem not quite so frightening for me. You are absolutely amazing!! X
