"Amazing reception staff"

About: Crawley Hospital / General surgery

First point of call obviously reception staff. Worth their weight in gold-how they keep their cool in such a professional, courteous way can only be admired. They have to deal with aggressive, arrogant, obnoxious people. Sensitive, old, young, different languages and still they smile through it.

I have to admit I was very tempted, on more than one occasion, to react to these horrible members of the public. They are doing a job. Simple. They do not deserve to be treated so badly. Joe public can be so rude.

Then there are the ‘nursing staff’. Again helpful, courteous and professional. I had a lovely triage nurse who asked many questions, explaining why. Smiles came free which is so kind and exceptable when feeling unwell.

Then the ‘medics’. Again everything fully explained, courteous and friendly. My medic was so sympathetic-a lovely lady indeed. Offered excellent advise including exercise plan and prescription.

OK the waiting time is awful ( 3.5 hours) but don’t blame reception staff. Blame the system. And Joe Public. Probably 50% should not have been at the UTC.
