"Accident and Emergency Experience with Nurse"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I would like to acknowledge an exemplary nurse that dealt with my father yesterday within the Accident and Emergency department, Monklands university hospital. This Nurse triaged my father with virtue and dignity at its highest level, when he was at his lowest.

As his son and as a doctor; a doctor who was unable to assist with my fathers ailments, it was difficult to let go professionally.  Knowing he needed a consultant review within a hospital was no easy task to execute and complete regarding his personality of pride.  A very reserved and highly opulent man who does not complain much he was apprehensive to say the least.

Upon speaking with my father while in the department about his experience I was shocked at his response.  I feel it only my duty as a health care professional to pass on my admiration for the staff nurse who triaged my father and continued to check on him throughout his stay in the department. The nurse made my father feel instantly at ease, showing genuine empathy and concern for his ailments. My father and his partner struck up an instant connection with their nurse and were laughing and joking by the end of their stay.

The words ‘she made me feel like I was her only patient’ is how he describes his experience within Monklands Hospital.

With a very reserved man being so impressed by the love and thoughtfulness this lady gave him had surprised myself and family ten folds.

I encouraged my step mother to approach this nurse for her name which she kindly gave as ‘Vickie’.

So on behalf of my father, his partner and myself thank you. Please keep up your very high standards of nursing care.

Dear ImpressedDoctor, Thank you for taking the time to feedback your fathers experience. We all wish him the best and hope that he is feeling better. I will make sure this feedback is given to the nurse involved in your fathers care and the wider department. Its heartening to hear that your father felt at ease.

Thank you again,

Take care,

Karen
