"This hospital saved my life !!!"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

In January 2014, I was admitted to the Royal Oldham with severe abdominal pain. I thought it was a grumbling appendix. The staff carried out a thorough investigation, and reported that my appendix was intact, but that the pain was due to severe constipation.

They then went on to tell me however, that following the scans that I had they had , by chance discovered a tumour in my right kidney. It was an incidental find. Within a day a multi disciplinary team came to see me and very clearly explained what was to happen. I was referred to one particular amazing Surgeon. Within 4 weeks, my kidney had been removed, and through the speed of this particular surgeon and his team, Despite the tumour being cancerous,

I did not require any further ongoing treatment.

All I had to do was to see this surgeon every year for 10 years for an annual check up. In April of this year I had my fourth annual check up, and all is well.

Thank you everyone at the Royal Oldham Hospital for the help you have given me and so many people that I know. When ever I have had to attend the staff are wonderful, despite the huge pressure they are under, and I just wanted to say a 'big thank you' for all that you do.
