About: Bromley Healthcare / Bladder and bowel management (continence)

(as a service user),

I had an appointment with the Bladder and Bowel service and I left feeling that they are just penny pinching.  At the end of my appointment the lady asked me to try a cheaper pad.  I hope they don't force me to use them as they are a "4 " drop which don't suit at night and keep me dry.  I know that they can do night protection for underneath me at night but they wouldn't give them to me.  They wont supply mattress protection either

A couple of years ago I asked for the net underwear instead of the solid nylon ones as they irritate my skin and give me sores.  I had an awful time trying to get them.

I am elderly and I have to wash sheets daily.  They are supposed to provide a complete service but they don't. 

On another note I tried to call the service to discuss everything but the phone says they are closed !

I am very sorry that you are not satisfied with the service that you have received.

If you would like to contact me on Julie.miller5@nhs.net and provide your name and contact details then we will ask the Bladder and Bowel team to look into the issues that you have raised. Of course your contact and personal details will not be shared on this public website.

On a more general note it may be helpful to know that unfortunately there are restrictions on what can be provided by the NHS services and unfortunately Mattress and chair protectors are not provided by the NHS.

There is a telephone answering service which drops to voice mail if someone is unavailable at that time. If you leave a message then a member of staff would ring you back.
