"A missed managed incident"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Cardiology

I was brought into A/E by ambulance 3/8/18 having suffered a silent heart attack I was seen to right way I spent all day in a cubicle being monitored by I have to say very caring professional Dr and nurses.that evening I was taken to CCU ward where I received such wonderful care and kindness from the cleaners nurses ward sister and Dr's .they all took the time to answer all my questions about my care their professionalism was exemploray my views were always listened with concern and compassion.

I feel I must however draw your attention to one incident that took place on the CC U ward 12th August involveing a young nurse who refused to be transferred to another ward as the CCU was over staffed that day I heard the sister who was on duty that day asked the young nurse what were her reasons for refusing to go to another ward her reason being she felt it was dangerous sister reported this to whoever about hour later someone more senior came to speak personally to the nurse. My problem is that this conversation should have been behind closed doors not browbeating the nurse so all could hear it seems it was the matron how unprofessional I would have thought someone in that position would have acted with more professionalism.i sincerely hope you will look into this incident.that Matron let the whole of Stepping Hill down.

Thank you for your kind words regarding the care you received whilst in the Emergency Department and Coronary Care Unit. Our staff strive very hard to ensure that all their patients receive a high standard of care and we will feed this back to the staff concerned.

I can only apologise that you had to overhear conversations that should have been, as you say, held behind closed doors. We do have to have difficult conversations with members of staff on occasion but the patients should not be disturbed by these. We will feed this back to all senior staff as it does not reflect well on the Trust when this happens.
