"Not honest"

About: Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Crisis resolution

(as a service user),

I complained about my care, and got treated badly by staff. I put in a formal complaint through the complaint process, which said my care was not influenced by the complaint I made. Fast forward some time... I requested my health records from another trust. It records a note from a phone call made between my CMHT and a person saying that we have changed the way we treat her due to allegations made against members of the team, we recommend you do the same.  I feel that if I can't complain, and they wont investigate complaints fully, how can can patients be protected from staff abuse? My experience of this trust leads me to want to avoid them.

Hi Amiee

I wasn't sure from your posting which teams you were directly providing feedback about but I hope you find my response helpful.

I can say that when a service user is referred to the crisis assessment service, we do check our electronic records to see if there has been any previous contact. This helps us to see what support may have been given in the past and how that may have helped so that we can support people in the best way possible.

I am sorry if you feel our contact with you was inhibited based on a previous complaint.

One of our trust values describes being open about the actions we take and the decisions we make and we will always protect our patients from any level of abuse.

If you have cause to believe that you were treated differently because you made a previous complaint, that is really worth investigation. I know you've said that you've done this previously but I'd really encourage you to make contact with our complaints team complaints.lypft@nhs.net again so that we can get to the bottom of this.

With kind regards
