"i would crawl to another day surgery before i..."

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

What I liked

leaving.

What could be improved

we arrived at noon and my husband was shown to a bed. No one even came near us until 1:30, when a nurse approached and put bands on him, told him her name and that was it. not a smile, small talk, nothing. surgeon, who was not the one seen by my husband on his preassessment, approached and spoke briefly to him. anesthetist was surprised he was having a local...thought it was to be a general.

after surgery, my husband was offered a sandwich or biscuits. No one came to see him, or tell us what the procedure was for leaving. after an hour, he got dressed and we had to walk to the desk, interrupt the conversation going on, to find out the procedure for discharge. we were told to wait in chairs across from desk. about fifteen minutes later, the same nurse handed him papers, a Rx, and that was it.

Anything else?

the biggest problem here was lack of communication. we were not told of the schedule, the procedures of the ward, the outcome of the surgery. in all i would say that not more than two humndred words were spoken to us, as though we were interlopers and should not be there.
