"Day stay nightmare"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Gynaecology

All i can say is nurses were in a hurry to get home they were not interested in how the patient was feeling, being last to go to theatre i had been there all day from 8am in the morning i had nothing to eat since 10pm night before nothing to drink since 3am finally went to theatre about 5pm nobody checked on us seeing in total had no fluids for 16 hours.

Came out of theatre into recovery was there for 5-

10 minutes then sent back to day stay was there 10 minutes told i could get dressed and they would call my husband got changed when i come baxk they had plonked cold toast and tea that was undrinkable on my bed, i was in quite alot of pain sonthey gave me oral morphine (they couldnt wait to get me out the door) they gave me a leaflet said any problems call this ward as we are now closed. So from coming out of theatre to going home was a total of about 50 minutes i was told by the surgeon after i needed to stay a couple of hours at least.

So arrived home pain was getting worse and worse started being sick so husband called the emergency number that was on the letter spoke to a nurse who was you need to call an ambulance sorry so ended up in A & E where was given anti sickness morphine paracetamol and diclofenic and gas and air.

See on call gynae who was amazing said should never been discharged so quick and been monitored more i was admitted for 24 hours to help with the sickness and the pain and couldnt fault the ward i went to they were brilliant.

Long and short dont let day stay kixk you out if yoy have a lot of pain or dont feel ready to leave they can be there up until 10pm at night if needs the whole experience of this could have been avoided in my opinion if they had given me the care from the start instead of worrying about getting home early to watch there favourite soaps on the tv.

Very unhappy patient.
