"My son"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My 2 year old son was taken by ambulance to Musgrove at 5am due to struggling to breath. As a parent this is terrifying. The A&E staff spoke to us straight away and moved my son to Acorn ward within 2 hours.

The staff on Acorn ward could not have done any more for us. We had to stay over night so had different doctors and nurses. Everyone of them looked after my son to the highest level. Even through the night different staff would check in, make toast, fill up my sons milk bottle and administer drugs (all without disturbing his sleep).

A horrible 48 hours as a parent was made much easier by the staff we encountered. We can not thank them enough. We feel very lucky to have a hospital and staff with such caring attitudes near us.

Dear Eledge,

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive feedback for Acorn Ward. I am sure it was an extremely frightening time for you and your son. I hope he is now recovering well.

I have posted on your feedback to the teams on Acorn ward, I am sure they will be delighted to share your positive experience with the ward staff.

I will let you know if I hear anything specifically from the ward team, and share this with you.

Dear Eledge,

I am one of the Consultant Paediatricians and also the clinical lead for the paediatric service. Your kind comments were passed to me by Kerry.

On behalf of our team I wanted to thank you personally for taking the time to leave such wonderful feedback for our staff on Acorn Ward. I also wanted to let you know that I have managed to find out which of our nurses and doctors cared for your son during his admission and have forwarded your kind comments to them individually. I also plan to share your feedback with our wider department at our paediatric improvement group.

I am so glad that your son is better and thank you again for sharing your positive experience with us.
