"Excellent patient care"

About: NHS Grampian / North East Scotland Breast Screening Centre NHS Shetland

(as the patient),

I recently had a scare with my health after finding a lump in my breast. I saw my local GP in Shetland, a local hospital consultant and also staff at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for further investigation. I wanted to thank everyone who was involved in my care; the way that they spoke to me, explained what was going on and allowed me to ask questions, introduced themselves and were reassuring was so helpful in making an otherwise scary time feel much easier. I received a letter to confirm that my results were benign and really appreciated that this was written in a personal manner. Having such a positive experience makes it easier to go back if I needed to in the future or to encourage friends or family to have things checked.

Dear CShetland

I am sorry to hear of your recent health scare. I am glad to hear you that the care you received, both in Shetland and in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary while undergoing investigation, made you feel respected, reassured and well informed with the opportunity to ask questions during this stressful time. I am delighted that your results were benign.

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience. I have shared your thanks with the team in Breast Screening Centre.

Kind regards

Margaret Meredith

Nurse Manager
