Overall the quality of care is excellent and much better than many other surgeries that friends of mine attend. Mostly, GPs and staff are prepared to go the extra mile and accommodate individual needs. There are issues with the telephone system and sometimes the wait time is too long but given the pressure that everyone is under and lack of resources everyone is really working flat out. I think it would be helpful to know GPs particular specialism so that appointments could be made to reflect that particular medical issue as would more access to ones named Doctor bit I realise the practical difficulties of making this work. One suggestion and possible solution to missed appointments which costs time and money would be to charge everyone £10 for appointments and refund it after they have had their consultation- so missed appointments would cost the patient money and I guarantee the percentage of missed appointment would decline and disappear The system could be fully automated and after initial set up costs would very inexpensive to maintain. It would also maintain the principle of ' free at the point of delivery but chargeable at the the failure of attendance- extending the NHS mission for the modern demands of the system.
After 30 years I remain very pleased.
