"Wonderful experience"

From the moment we arrived to when we left with our new baby we were treated with complete kindness, respect and total professionalism. The maternity team simply could not have done more for us. We felt so lucky to have chosen there to have our baby (we were outliers so had to travel in from across London). We made use one of the birthing pools and then moved on to birth suite 28. Once labour got going, we had the undivided attention of two wonderful midwives and occasionally a third. At all times, they reassured mum, dad and mother-in-law and kept everything under control. They also kept us informed and answered every question confidently and with clarity. When pain relief was needed, it was promptly given. One of the midwives even gave mum an aromatherapy massage which definitely helped her to relax and feel looked after. Delivery was as smooth as it could have been and when things seemed to be progressing a little slowly, plans were made and we were informed of what next steps would be. Luckily, baby decided to hurry up and put in an appearance before those plans were needed. Once baby was cleaned up, the midwives helped dad to cut the cord, checked baby and gave mum a thorough check over. They then left us all to get to know him. They brought sheets for dad and mother-in-law to bed down (there was a sofa bed provided) and we were free to stay until late afternoon the next day. To top it all, the view out on to the Palace of Westminster and the Thames was beautiful. Absolutely first class.
