"The physiotherapist who changed my life"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I have always had growing pains , I have always eased them by being healthy & active joining clubs swimming walking and different kinds of sports at school. when I fell over and hurt my ankle a few years ago  things started to  change for me .  just before the summer holidays started  I had such sore pains in my feet all the way up my legs,  I had been to see the doctor several times but the pains got so bad I had to go to A&E for treatment.

waiting over three hours that day to see someone. In the hospital where it was so hot and busy . lots of  children in with breaks & sprains . I wasn't exactly sure what was wrong with me , I had never felt such pain.

I was taken  to a ward where I was seen by a physiotherapist, she explained to me that because I had  grown so much over Christmas , my leg muscles had  stretched and become so tight and were  causing me pain . she asked me what I did to keep fit, I explained that I do as much as I can , then I was given excercises to do in Order for me to get the proper movement back in my legs and to maintain a healthy diet , and I do these most days for five or ten minutes and eat properly.

Things have started to improve for me now  however it may take some time to walk properly with ease as I am still sore. I want thank the people who were kind and helpful to me at the hospital , the physiotherapist who helps people like me every day and changed my life . I am so happy.

Dear Buser12

Thank you so much for posting your story. I am glad that you're symptoms are improving and how much you felt the physiotherapist helped in this happening. It's great that you are doing you're exercises on a regular basis and eating well so keep it up. It is fantastic for the staff to get feedback and I have no doubt that the team will be delighted to read your experience. I hope you continue to improve and get back to normal very soon.

Thanks again

Claire Rae
