"Pharmacy"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Cardiology

A bit of a joke that in this day and age that you can't fill a prescription outside archaic opening hours.

Was given a prescription that can only be filled at the hospital.

There was no stock (after a 20 min wait) told to come back.

Difficult when you work and it is notopen before 9am or after 6pm and here's the kicker not on weekends.

This is run by well pharmacy surely there should be provision for the majority of folk who have employment.

Further to our initial response please see the following reply from Paul Buckley our Head of Pharmacy:

My sincerest apologies to the patient that they had to wait 20 minutes before they were told that we did not have the medication. This should have been communicated much quicker and is not acceptable. This will be fed back to staff as a point of learning. The Pharmacy Shop is not a community pharmacy and is mainly open to dispense out-patient prescriptions. It’s hours of opening reflect the hours for out-patient clinics. To extend the service to include late nights and weekends may benefit a small number of patients but would be expensive due to the costs of additional staffing and given there is little work. We are developing our services further and this may result in extended opening times. I would be more than happy to discuss with the respondent.

If you wish to discuss with any member of our teams, please do not hesitate to contact either emma.rogers@stockport.nhs.uk or myself Kathryn.glass@stockport.nhs.uk or call us on 0161 419 5203
