"healthy lung testing"

About: Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Trust HQ / Respiratory medicine The Royal Liverpool University Hospital / Respiratory medicine

(as the patient),

Hi, I just want to relate my story about the process I went through when I joined the healthy lung testing project, I received a letter from my gp in the brownlow practice asking me did I want to be tested has I had been a smoker in the past, I accepted the offer and went to a local health centre, I had the test and they found a small anomaly I was sent to the royal for a scan, I was in and out of the hospital in 20 minutes, I was phoned by my gp about 2 weeks later to say that I needed to go on a course of antibiotics and then to wait 6 weeks to have another scan the gp was fantastic and talked me through what would be the next process, I had the second scan and was told that the results where exactly the same no change whatsoever and I would need a biopsy to establish exactly what the shadow was, I had the biopsy, and two weeks later had a appointment with the cancer specialist, I was really nervous but was informed that they had looked at the pathology and it was benign, I was over the moon, I had been treat brilliantly from the outset, and cannot praise our doctors nurses and all clinicians ay broadgreen heart and chest and all NHS staff, I now feel completely free from stress knowing my lungs are free from disease, and would advise anybody to take up the offer of a healthy lung check up.

Hi there,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the Liverpool Healthy Lung Project. We're glad to hear that your experience, whilst worrying, was also helpful and informative. More importantly, however, we're pleased to hear that the care and treatment you received was so positive and that it's taken away your feelings of stress and concern.
Please do encourage others to find out more about the Liverpool Healthy Lung Project, especially those who may also have received a similar letter from their GP.
Best wishes
