"Thank you for enabling me to get the treatment I need"

About: Victoria Hospital / Endoscopy

(as a service user),

After years of bad experiences with gastro scopes I finally was referred to a consultant who wanted to help me.

I attended an appointment with Dr Shams at the gastrointestinal clinic. He wanted to discuss my previous experiences and try to find a positive outcome. I have many health issues and am required to have regular scopes. I explained that I had to make a complaint following the most recent scope (2years previous) and I was not willing to have anymore invasive treatments.

Dr Shams took time to discuss the situation and reassure me of other options available.  I felt so much more confident and we decided together on use of a paediatric scope and premedication.

I felt relaxed on the day of my scope and confident that the experience would be positive. The procedure went well and I can say now that if Dr Shams is required to perform future gastro scopes, I will be happy to attend appointments. Thank you for enabling me to get the treatment I need to check on ongoing conditions.

Dear Lornee

It was lovely to read your comments on Care Opinion following your Gastroscopy under the care of Dr Shams.

I am so pleased that this time the procedure went well and that you have the confidence to return to the department in the future. Dr Shams will be delighted to know that he has made such a difference and turned a negative experience into a more positive one.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your comments.

Kind regards

Sandra
