I feel it only but right to show the impact of a fantastic health visitor can have when the inevitable of retirement comes. Since about late 2016 I have had what I can only class as the ultimate health visitor in terms of professional standards hand in hand with genuine care for ALL her families. Having witnessed her in action as my own personal health visitor, as the health visitor of a friend and seeing comments made previously on sites such as this, it is clear this is the case. I feel as my child is approaching primary school, that we had been "deprived" of the best of the early years of care, especially as staff disappeared when he was only few months old with no notification of who our new health visitor was or that our current health visitor had indeed left (finding out by over hearing another mum talking at the clinic),
and a massive hole in our support has been left unfillable to the fullest extent as no-one will ever fully match up. We will never be able to thank her enough for all she has done to help us in getting our son to where he is, or us as parents getting us to where we are. They should name a school for health visitors in her honour because every family deserves a "Paula" in their lives. She was so relaxed that even I with trust difficulties fairly quickly felt able to talk to her about the trials we were having as a family allowing her to help us to her fullest. Her retirement is a massive loss to the profession but more than well earned and deserved for Paula.
"Her retirement is a massive loss to the profession"
