"Worrying practices"

About: The Limes Medical Centre

I've been a patient of this surgery for a few years, very rarely using services (only when needed) and never late for an appointment. However, I do suffer from anxiety and it can make feeling confident enough to see a medical practitioner difficult to begin with. The new appointment system is awful. I phoned when my 1 year old son developed a sudden and string rash and had a temperature of 41.5 degrees. I had to wait hours for a doctor to phone me back to decide whether he deserved to be seen. They asked if I 'really needed' to see a dr for it. The doctor I spoke to was rude and gave no guidance, and instead suggested that I give him Calpol (which I already said I was doing) and that if I was worried still in a few hours to phone 999. What kind of info is that? No help, just further worry. No diagnosis. Three weeks later and he's still losing areas of raw skin. I hate that this surgery has made me feel like me son didn't deserve an appointment. He was so ill and the person on the phone didn't ask if the rash blanched under pressure. For all the doctor cared my son could have had meningitis. I'm so scared that one day they won't bother to see someone who needs help and something awful will happen, and I'm too scared this will happen to my child to remain at this surgery.
