I received a letter from Manchester Royal Infirmary Monday for an appointment Wednesday. I rang to cancel and another was made for Friday. Tuesday I received a written letter confirming the new appointment and two text message reminders sent at the same time. To reply to say I will be attending I sent straight away Tuesday for a Friday appointment. Its reply said " Your response is too late for the automated service. You must call the number on your letter and speak to a member of staff."
This is a complete waste of time, why send two text messages which expect a reply of attendance confirmation for you to receive a response to phone a member of staff who you only spoke to the day before to confirm attendance. If this is supposed to prevent wasted appointments then all well and good but get the technology right. Only one text message please and allow the Yes or No reply to be accepted not waste peoples time with unnecessary phone calls we all and yourselves could do without.
"Text contact following an appointment being made"
