"Glasgow Royal Infirmary"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Surgery (wards 64, 65, 66,& 67)

(as the patient),

I was a patient who would describe myself as forward thinking and very much I favour of the NHS. Unfortunately my wait for surgery was over an unacceptable period of time. However I do understand the constraints relating to beds costs etc. The positive aspects are very good. From the moment I arrived at the same day surgery unit I was most impressed by the standard of information and care I was given. I was treated with exceptional care and given informative choices every step of the way.. anasthetics is an area often forgotten but I have to say the staff again were very reassuring and professional. My biggest fear was in this area and they were absolutely exceptional. My surgery went well and recovery again another area often forgotten was such a good experience. I wakened to a lovely hot air blanket moulding round my body amazing. I felt so comfortable and secure. Staff were so reassuring and pleasant. The wars staff tremendous in their thoughtfulness and care given. They were very attentive and caring. This spiced with the Glaswegian humour made my stay exceptional. Physio again very good The lady was very precise I her instruction and so caring. I found everyone to be in the exceptional band that I couldn’t pick out any member of staff as being better than another. Well done Glasgow Royal for turning my experience as a patient from depressing to very positive. Thanks to all.

Dear Animal lover,

Thank you for posting your feedback on your experience at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

I am pleased to hear that the care and attention shown to you by all staff during your stay were exceptional and I am glad that your fears about the anaesthesia were alleviated.

I will ensure that your comments are shared with the staff; they will be delighted to know that they made you feel reassured and well looked after. It is great to hear that the Glaswegian sense of humour played an important part in your recovery!

I hope that you continue to recover well.

Best wishes,

Antje

I have been telling my friends all about Glasgow Royal and how much I appreciated the care given. It is always good to tell the positive things as very often people only discuss negative issues. There was certainly nothing negative in my case.
