"Dark claustrophobic waiting areas"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Cardiology

We have been twice to the cardiology centre and our impression both times has been the same. The buildings are relics of a Victorian age in real need of demolishing to be replaced by something that gives a less unpleasant feeling. Waiting in narrow dark claustrophobic corridors does nothing to enhance the experience and for patients who have a dread of hospitals and suffer from anxiety at even the thought of visiting one experience is not one that builds any confidence in the treatment.

Parking is a nightmare, the centralisation of services in one cramped place makes planning a visit awkward, but travelling from a distance where the alternative to driving is an expensive taxi or several changes of bus which do not bear thinking of.

Thank you for sharing your experience of the cardiology centre and parking at the Royal Oldham hospital.

I have shared your comments with the hospital’s senior leadership team to consider.

I hope I can assure you that we keep the patient experience at forefront of all the decisions we make, so I am sorry that you’ve found the centre’s environment, parking facilities and service unsatisfactory.

We welcome your comments and will reflect on them and any other patient views when developing any changes to that area.

Regards,

Head of Patient Experience
