My father was in Redditch Alex hospital a few weeks ago. He was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and others issues.
I discovered that the cardiologist had signed a DNR letter which stated that the "family" had been informed. I'm not sure which family member that was but I had not. I called the cardiologist but could only leave a message with the secretary to call me back, assured that they would. Instead of that they visited my dad and asked him what he was worried about, and didn't bother to call me.
Shame on you consultant for ignoring me. Do you realise how that made me feel?
It doesn't matter that I wasn't the patient, it matters that I saw the DNR signed letter and argued the point with the nurse whether I should bring in my own defib because everyone else would just stand by. Shocking state of affairs.
Thankfully he's been discharged.
"Poor communication"
