"Outstanding treatment from the Fax Max team"

About: Ipswich Hospital

Following an accident I attended A&E over the bank holiday and recieved some excellent treatment from all involved. Because I had a bony injury to my face I was seen by the on-call Doctor and assessed.

I was called back for review on the Tuesday and was seen by opthalmology and the doctor again.

Within the week I was in surgery having had CT scan, Eye review, bloods etc.

On the day of surgery, because of beds I was shifted around but the staff on SAU were brilliant and kept me well informed.

The anaesthetic team were really friendly but professional, very reassuring for me as I hadnt undergone anaesthetic for over 40 years and I was pretty worried about it.

In recovery I was looked after again by a clearly skilled and motivated team, I was seen by the anaesthetic consultant because I was having some pain and reviewed by the Max Fax team again.

Pain promptly dealt with.

I was kept in recovery for longer than expected but was made to feel perfectly comfortable.

Handover to the ward was seamless and I spent the night having hourly observations on my eye.

The night staff were brilliant and made sure I had everything that I needed.

Seen again in the morning by the consultant and team, x-rays then home by around 2pm.

I have to say that the whole episode has been brilliant, but a few points stand out.

1. From the time I saw the on-call Max Fax doctor in A&E to my 1st follow-up visit the information that I was given about my likely condition was consistant and very accurate.

2. Despite being an emergency the consent process was excellent, at all stages the Max Fax team went out of thier way to answer any questions I had and were honest about the expectations and potential complications.

3. Everyone I encountered from ward, surgery, reception, theatre was friendly and professional.

As I guess you have most time to observe them, the ward and recovery staff particularly impressed me by the respect that they clearly treated each other with which made me feel like I was in safe hands.

4. The different depts that I've had to see have all bent over backwards to accomodate appointments at late notice, or swapped my times around to minimise my time at and trips to the hospital.

A huge thanks from me to everyone at the hospital who have made what has been a pretty horrible injury bearable through excellent and efficient treatment.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, it is great to hear how all the departments that you came into contact with had such a positive impact on your care and experience. I will make sure that your kind words are passed. Many thanks.
