My husband had to drive me to A&E after feeling a 'pop' underneath my foot whilst running. I knew something bad had happened as the pain soon flooded in and I couldn't weight bear on my foot at all.
I thought I'd ruptured my plantar fascia.
We didn't have to wait too long to see various people but I really wish I'd gone to the John Radcliffe as i feel I didn't receive proper care here.
I was told to try and walk using my toes even though the pain was excruciating and they wouldn't give me crutches.
Luckily in the age of the internet it was obvious I needed crutches (which I borrowed) and immobilisation for at least 2-3 weeks.
3 weeks later, after the bruising had subsided, A scan has now confirmed that although rare, I have ruptured my medial plantar fascia.
Absolutely no way should I have been told to try to walk using my toes, even resting for a week wouldn't be enough.
Really disappointed with the lack of proper care and advice. Although the staff themselves were all very professional in their manner
"Disappointed with wrong advice and treatment"
