Myself and my partner attended a course at ROH due to me having a higher BMI. We found the course really useful and the tour of the antenatal, postnatal, theatre and labour ward were fantastic, both myself and my partner couldn’t get over the level of calmness felt throughout all wards.
The best part for me was actually speaking to real professionals without judgement,I have felt real negativity throughout my pregnancy due to my BMI and constantly come away from consultant appointments a little deflated. as although I have a raised BMI I have had no issues or any complications with baby of myself throughout my pregnancy (if I would of had issues I would accept I can only give birth on the labour ward), I have a huge fear of clinical settings so from the get go I wanted to birth on the birth centre, however I have been told no on more than one occasion. After speaking with the staff at ROH they actually gave me a shimmer of hope of birthing in the birth centre and I have had a meeting with my consultant and finally been given the go ahead to give birth where I always wanted to! Can’t thank Sam and the staff at ROH enough.
