I just want to say a massive thank you to all the brilliant and wonderfully caring team of professionals (Occupational Therapist-Hannah, Physio's-Helen and Tessa, Assistant Physio-Jo) That I worked with during my time under the care of the Locala (North) Community Rehabilitation team based out of the Eddercliffe centre. Following my stroke, aged just 36 my major concern on being discharged from hospital was that I was no longer going to be receiving the specialist input I needed; To help me regain as much function both physically and mentally/cognitively to hopefully, in time, enable me to return to as much of my previous way of life as possible. As prior to my stroke I enjoyed a full and active work and personal life but having a diagnosis of bi-polar disorder my mood could be unstable. Through all their efforts in devising a staggered plan under Hannah's leadership which gradually ramped up as my post stroke fatigue improved and which was regularly reviewed and tailored with new activities added as I was capable this helped maintain positive steps forward which I believe helped maintain my mood in a good healthy state, thereby aiding my overall recovery. All in all, this set excellent foundations which I have been able to build upon even after I was discharged from their service, which was also handled very well. As at no point did I feel I was being dumped or left on my own. By having clear and open conversations with Hannah it meant I was informed through all the stages as the 1: 1 home based physio sessions with Jo were gradually reduced and I was then given clear guidance sheets and demonstrated how to undertake all the exercises myself, which I have been able to continue to do.
