"My appointment was for 11.00. Advised to arrive..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

What could be improved

My appointment was for 11.00. Advised to arrive 15 mins. early and reported to Reception on arrival

By 11.45 had still not been called and reported same to Reception. Staff had no idea why the delay but went to find out why the delay. A nurse then came to the waiting area and told me they were running late (which of course was obvious) and there would be further delays of somewhere between 30 & 60 minutes. As there was another patient waiting to see the doctor who had already been there for over an hour. The nurse was rather surprised that I wasn't prepared to wait any longer and I suggested that they could contact me when they could give me an alternative appointment that they could honour.. I suggested that as they obviously were aware of the delays they could at least advise staff at Reception who could in turn keep patients advised. This lack of information shows total disregard for patients and should not be allowed.

Anything else?

Most other departments and consultants keep patients advised of waiting times by posting information on a notice board. Is this too much to ask for the Pathology department.

Please take note that patients time is also valuable and act accordingly
