"Maternity Care"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

(as a service user),

I had a significant bleed post delivery of my son. I could not compliment the calmness, professionalism and supportiveness of the staff. Especially the midwifery (including student midwife) and health care assistants. They looked after me and made sure my son was also cared for whilst I was being treated and my husband wasn't around to help.

The staff reassured me and supported me as well as giving me treatment which ultimately resulted in me not requiring surgery. I can't thank them enough.

Dear NewmumtoMPN,

Many thanks for sharing your story with us. I was sorry to hear that you experienced some complications and significant bleeding after the birth of your son - pretty scary stuff, I'm imagining, for a new mum?

How important then to be surrounded by staff who can give the gift of calm, compassion, reassurance and effective care delivered in a timely way to avoid surgery? I am delighted that this was exactly how things were for you.

I'll pass on your lovely feedback to the team today and let them know how grateful you feel. Thanks for enabling me to acknowledge their contribution. It is a significant moment in your life and it is our absolute privilege to share it with you.

I'm assuming you're back home now and enjoying precious time with your beautiful new baby? have fun with that, take care of you too and do let us know if there's anything you need?

With best wishes and congratulations,

Annie
