"Mental health and other services"

It’s really gone down hill. Waited over three weeks for a phone call about a contraception plan, ringing up numerous times to be told I was back on the phone call list... to then be told I didn’t need the phone call in the first place. Not the receptionists fault at all but miss communication somewhere else. Then can’t get an appointment till June.

Suffered with mental health problems for 4/5 years, changed meds 3 times to gp’ saying I shouldn’t change them again even when I’m sure they don’t suit me. Their version of counselling where they just ask you a questionnaire and then give you those leaflets that are a waste of time.

Asked if there was any chance of having a referral to be said that they wouldn’t even look at me, unless I was sectioned... of course no one wants that but do you have to be on the verge of suicide to even be considered an emergency, what would going to the ER even do? Feel like they don’t care anymore.

Had private counselling and currently having hypnotherapy, trying my god dam hardest to get over this to be made to feel like it’s all in my ‘head’ or ‘you’ve got to want to get better’ when I see the GP, sometimes they don’t even check my medical record have to remind them of my past prescriptions and doing things privately that still don’t work. After explaining my personal issues to them why shouldn’t I be entitled to a second opinion/referral to a psychiatrist or someone more in that field of knowledge. Agree 100% with that previous post by another user about losing patience and being made to feel stupid. Not usually one to complain I’ve had enough of not being listened to.
