As part of a normal diabetic screening, my GP noted a low platelet count repeated over two tests. She referred me to the Haematologist, who saw me within two weeks and did more tests. She then referred me to the Immunologist who, again saw me within two weeks. After an ultrasound, PET and CT scans he has commenced me on immunoglobulin replacement therapy where I was trained by a superb nurse practitioner to administer the subcutaneous infusions. Following the scans, the Immunologist and Haematologist have referred me to the respiratory specialist and I have done the lung function tests. All the departments, across two hospitals, have worked seamlessly together and have been thorough, supportive and have explained everything with frank clarity. I cannot praise St Luke's GP Practice, the Royal Surrey County and Frimley Park Hospitals enough.
