"Supportive therapy but little progress"

About: Back on Track (Hammersmith and Fulham IAPT)

(as a service user),

I am suffering from PTSD, depression and anxiety. I worked with S who ran me through EMDR. While I don't feel I've made much progress I do think S is a great therapist and I appreciated all her help and support. I hope I can return and continue the therapy. That said, I am disappointed that the NHS supplies approximately 6 - 12 EMDR sessions. For someone, like me, who has been through a massive trauma, this doesn't even start to touch the tip of the iceberg. I think the NHS needs to reconsider its position on this so that people can get the proper support they need. Also, I think the wait list was way too long. I should have started years ago.

Hi perseusjn36, thank you for your feedback about your therapist. We are really glad that you found her supportive throughout the therapy process. We are however sorry to hear that you did not feel like 12 sessions of EMDR helped you to make as much progress as you had hoped. As an NHS service, we are only commissioned to offer brief therapy and this of course might not be a big enough "dose" for everyone. However, I do hope you were able to notice some gains from the sessions that you did have.

We are also sorry to hear that you experienced the wait for therapy as too long. Reducing the waiting times for therapy is currently a service priority and we are working hard to find ways to reduce the waiting times further.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us with this very useful feedback. We wish you all the best for the future.
